For Banned Book Week, our theme is about locking up information, so we chose a lock and chain theme.
For the first time, we are making use of the windows that point outside to interact with students. We made some “peek-a-boo” signs that have the word “Censored” on them. We put a reason why a books was censored. Then we cut out the inside of the “O” and put a small copy of the cover of the book that was censored behind the O. The picture here shows how we did it.
When patrons peer through the window, they get to see which book it is. It has been lots of fun so far and has been a springboard for conversation
