For Banned Book Week, our theme is about locking up information, so we chose a lock and chain theme.

For the first time, we are making use of the windows that point outside to interact with students.  We made some “peek-a-boo” signs that have the word “Censored” on them.  We put a reason why a books was censored. photo 1 (4) Then we cut out the inside of the “O” and put a small copy of the cover of the book that was censored behind the O.  The picture here shows how we did it.photo 1 (3)

When patrons peer through the window, they get to see which book it is.  It has been lots of fun so far and has been a springboard for conversation

We have 14 signs or so, 10 pointing to the outside of the school, and 4 by our front doors.photo 3 (3)photo 2 (5)photo 4 (3)
