No words are needed for this display. As soon as I had finished putting this up, three people who identify as members of the LGBTQ community came to talk to me about it or look at the books that I put out. Our school is celebrating the National Day of Silence a little late this year, so I timed this to be between April 17th and our honoring of that day. It really brightens up the library, too with it’s rainbow colors.
The books are a mix of fiction and non-fiction. The non-fiction books are mostly the advice kind of books rather than the history of the gay rights movement kind of books. I am very fortunate to work in a school where a display like this does not rock the boat and people are not afraid of looking at the books.
