Lucky Dip Genre jars #librarydisplays

IMG_4335For a new twist, instead of putting out books, our display area features small cookie jars filled with book suggestions by genre.  We chose six genres.  “Mystery” turned out to be too big.  We couldn’t fit all of the mystery slips we made into the jar.  “Dystopian books you’ve probably never heard of” has been popular with the 6th graders on the first day that it was out.   I like “Mythology and IMG_4329mythological fiction”, but wish I had just made it “Mythological fiction”.   Most of our genre choices came from what students ask us for. “Exciting stories that actually happened” are for non-fiction readers who like narrative non-fiction. IMG_4331 IMG_4333IMG_4334IMG_4330IMG_4332
